Portrait

I live in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, having just graduated from the Missouri School of Journalism (May ‘08) and moved here to take on a job at the Cambodia Daily. I aspire to an international career as a foreign correspondent, with an interest in the developing world, especially Africa and the Middle East.

I have a passion for storytelling and want to explore all kinds of it: writing, photography, radio, documentary film-making… Other interests include traveling, literature, history and languages.

I come from all over, mostly Epinal, France.

Photo by Maggie Rife, Missouri BJ ‘07, photographer and friend extraordinaire and reportedly an avid J junkie reader.

  2. Hi:
I got bored on a Sunday night and for some reason tracked down your blogs back a year ago when cutbacks were announced. As you know, I left the paper during the next round of cuts.

I think you did an admirable job while you were at the Sentinel. I wish I had been smart enough to actually talk to you while you were doing your internship. It sounds exciting to be in Phnom Penh; I’m sending good wishes to you — and I’m happy that you’re pursuing good journalism. Keep up the good fight. I may get back to it myself one of these days. I hope you stay in touch … my e-mail is thonig@gmail.com

    All best,

    Tom
